I don't know about you but when I go somewhere for the weekend, I like to do something a little bit different. I find that if I'm only going to be somewhere for such a limited period of time and I may not ever return to the place, I like to do something memorable.
I recently went to Newcastle for the weekend and upon seeing an advertisement for Newcastle helicopter rides, I thought to myself why not? The result of this little decision was something that I am likely to remember for ever so if you are heading to the city or perhaps even if you live there I highly recommend that you at least look into it. It can be a bit expensive but realistically you could easily spend the same amount by going down the pub for the night and you are hardly going to remember that forever. Though I am sure that different companies offer different routes, here is the route that my pilot took.
First of all we took off from Newcastle Airport. This I admit is a bit of a hassle but trust me, it is worth it. The first thing that then we flew over was the Tyne and its famous bridges and this was followed by the Metro Centre and past the Angel of the North. We then flew on to Washington and then passed the Penshaw monument. I was really surprised at this point by just how much of the city can be seen in such a short period of time. Our pilot kept pointing things out as we passed as well so we were sure not to miss anything. Then we flew towards the coastline and passed both the Marsden and South Shields and then once more along the River Tyne. Here the view was pretty spectacular and then we even passed St James Park stadium before heading back to the airport.
Now as you will know if you are from the city, that is pretty much the whole city and we saw it all within a thirty minute ride. There is simply no other way that an entire city can be viewed in such a short period of time and I don't think there is any way that a city can be viewed in such a spectacular fashion anyway. And not only that, there is also just the experience of actually being in a helicopter for the first time. I think I probably would have loved the experience even if it had just been in my home town; there is just something so peaceful about the way helicopters move. And just in case you are wondering about the price of Newcastle helicopter Rides, it only cost me the equivalent of two hundred and fifty dollars. I don't know about you but I think that that is a pretty reasonable price for something that you will remember for the rest of your life. So as you can probably guess, I highly recommend you give Newcastle helicopter rides a go. |
